St Mary’s Church Motherwell — Modern AV Integration for Worship and Live Streaming

Enhancing services with projection, live video, and intuitive control systems

St Mary’s Church Motherwell AV — Project Overview

Access AV delivered a complete St Mary’s Church Motherwell AV upgrade, transforming the church’s visual and streaming capabilities. The brief was to provide a flexible system to support both live congregational worship and streamed services for remote viewers. The new solution combines a high-brightness projection system, motorised screen, NDI video camera network and centralised control — all fully designed, installed and commissioned by our engineering team.

High-Brightness Projection System

A powerful Epson 7,000-lumen projector was installed to deliver clear visuals even in bright ambient light. The projector feeds a Sapphire Smart Move motorised screen mounted high within the sanctuary, designed to lower smoothly during services and retract discreetly afterwards. This gives the church an unobtrusive solution that blends with the architecture while providing a large, bright display when needed.

NDI Camera Network and Control

The visual system is supported by NDI PTZ cameras connected through Magewell NDI decoders, feeding into a dedicated OBS streaming PC. This setup gives the church full multi-camera production capability for live streaming and recording. All devices are operated from a central SY control interface, allowing volunteers to run the system easily without technical expertise.

Commissioning, Training and Support

Following installation, our team fully commissioned the system and provided hands-on training to church staff and volunteers. As part of our service package, Access AV continues to offer remote support and ongoing maintenance, ensuring the new system remains reliable and easy to operate for years to come.

  • Smart Move double drop projection screen, designed to clear the archway and display the stain glass windows when the projector is not in use.
  • Epson projectors with long throw lens to display bright clear and punchy images to the congregation.
  • NDI network ( Network Device Interface). This allows images from cameras and laptops to be sent across the network to be displayed on the projection screen and monitors for the choir.
  • Live streaming and recording all captured utilising Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) to receive the NDI images and produce a professional looking program.
  • Integrated audio capture from the existing system and rehoused all equipment into new racks for audio and video
